The Autumnal Equinox and Your Memories

Take advantage of the autumnal equinox on September 22 when day and night are in balance. Nature, herself, gives you this opportunity to create a new pathway for yourself. At this time, it is important to remember your deeds, reflect on your actions and correct your insincerities. Then you can move forward with clear intentions and an open heart.

What are some powerful remembrances that you have? Please think of 2 that have shaped you and brought you to this moment.

I remember being Martha Washington in my sixth grade play. I stood on the stage in a blue and white custom-made 18th century dress and proclaimed the new and free country of the United States of America.

When I was 5 years old, my parents, grandmother and I were at a fancy restaurant. The waiters were filling up the water glasses even though we had finished drinking. I exclaimed loudly, “Don’t waste the water!” Everyone in the place turned to look at me but I didn’t care.
These two I share still reverberate in my adult life. I cherish the freedom of America and its democratic institutions. I teach about climate change and ecotherapy.

I mention all of this because when you are in the Here and Now, you also bring your past. Your major remembrances. You have the possibility of evolving into the future but only when you know yourself thoroughly: your memories and your hopes, your light and your dark.

Focus in on the past months since the Spring equinox in March. Please remember your good deeds, missed opportunities, your own pain and the pain you caused others, the love you shared.

Remember your past as you stand in your present so you may go forward in goodness, commitment to your soul’s purpose and the healing of the world in 2018.
